The subject of  Chinese Medicine is a vast one. In this section I hope to provide comprehensive, balanced and well- researched information concerning the current state of Chinese medicine, its strengths and weaknesses and potential for the future.

In the meantime I hope you find this brief orientation of some benefit.

Chinese medicine has a long history. It has been developed and applied over thousands of years by many and varied individuals, in numerous traditions and lineages.

Current theory and practice of  TCM is typically presented and studied under the following headings in the West:

  • Basic Theory and Disgnostics
  • Herbal Medicine
  • Acupuncture and Moxibustion
  • Tuina

The application of the above disciplines in the following areas of treatment is also studied:

  • Gynaecology
  • Pediatrics
  • Opthalmology (Eyes)
  • Otorhinolaryngology (Ears, nose and throat)

In China,  the above disciplines may also be applied  to Surgery, Traumatology & Orthopedics (depending on the hospital and the procedure).

A further branch of Chinese Medicine, Qigong/ Daoyin (life cultivation and rehabilitation)  is undergoing a renaissance in the East and is being increasing studied in the West. This topic is covered in the "Energy Healing" section of the website.
